In 1998, 12snap approached Pyxis to revamp their existing look&feel, and produce a website that would match the energy and style demands of their product-concept – an auction in a cell phone. As 12snap expanded into other countries, we expanded our relationship and worked with them to evolve all four 12snap sites.

The result of our most recent design for 12snap UK was described by their CEO as, "the birth of a new benchmark for 12snap." We came up with a design that offered the flexibility to accommodate their needs for frequent updates and constantly changing promotions, while still maintaining their need for consistent branding.

The Chicago Transit authority came to Pyxis with a challenge – they wanted a fully-functioning online store developed and launched within four weeks. They were looking for a solution that could be put up quickly, yet would also allow them the range to eventually add and customize the site's features, according to their marketing needs. They also wanted a site with the scalability to handle a very high volume of traffic.

We developed the store and shopping cart using CyberCash credit card clearing functionality, SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption, as well as adding custom features to allow for special shipping rates and collecting user information. In addition, we developed a custom fulfillment system, which helps CTA easily track and organize incoming orders.

And we did it all within four weeks.

The Lake Michigan Federation was established in 1970 as a non-profit group aimed at preserving, protecting and educating about Lake Michigan. The LMF came to Pyxis for help redesigning their existing website, and to create an online ordering system where they could sell memberships and Lake Michigan-related products.

We created a design that promoted the spirit of the organization and their cause. The e-commerce system was developed so that the store could be completely maintained by the LMF staff through the use of an easy-to-use, web-enabled backend system.

Recently, the Lake Michigan Federation has been featured in the New York Times, as well as several other national papers, and is recognized as the premiere source for Great Lakes conservation.

We worked with Nestlé at their headquarters in Vevey Switzerland to help them develop and maintain a commodity purchasing system. It is a client/server system, developed using Oracle and Powerbuilder, which covers the business for physical contracts, futures and options.

The system is currently used mainly by coffee and cocoa buyers, backoffice and factories in several Nestlé markets, including the US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Brazil, Japan and several European markets.

PACT, a local community corrections organization needed a way to keep track of 1,300 open client case each day. The organization has 13 case workers and had previously managed everything with cumbersome folders and notepads.

They brought in Pyxis International to build an easy to use technology solution that would allow them minimal infrastructure requirements while allowing them to effectively manage and grow their organization.

The result was an internet based case management system that allows each case worker to manage their cases effectively. It also allows robust reporting for the executive management of PACT as well as reporting for their government requirements.

It was so successful that this project has been turned into one of our products that we are currently offering to other local service organizations.

Having previously only sold their products through wholesale and retail distribution channels, Peepers approached Pyxis to develop an e-commerce system for their first attempt at selling directly to the public.

We provided a design that allowed the Peepers interface to easily be changed to reflect the current season, giving the site a fresh appearance every few months, without requiring a great deal of time or effort. In addition, we designed the e-commerce system with a user-friendly backend maintenance and reporting system, allowing Peepers full control of their store and the ability to track their sales figures by state, product and date.

The response has been tremendous. Within the two years the site has been live, it has grown to generate sales of over $10,000 per month.

Not bad for a first attempt.

QQAAXX, a new contender in the PDA market came to Pyxis for our expertise in web design and e-commerce. This new company, based in Rome, Italy had only a freshly-created logo and a vision to begin with. We helped organize their content, develop a site architecture and develop the initial design style for not only their website, but their company in general.

The result was a cutting-edge design that would not only help distinguish them from their well-established competition, but also allow for expansion and crossover with future marketing campaigns.

A standard version of the website was developed for desktop PC viewing, as well as a mobile version which is accessible with the Microsoft Pocket Browser on Pocket PC handheld devices.

Sunrise is the largest private telecom in Switzerland, partly owned by British Telecom and Tele-Denmark. When they needed a web-based reporting and administration tool for use on their Intranet and Extranet, they chose Pyxis.

In an ongoing relationship, we continue to work with their datawarehouse team on ways of organizing and presenting their data. We developed their reports using Oracle and Crystal Reports, and are driving the web applications with a Windows NT frontend and an Oracle backend.

Teaming up with The Sunflower Group, a marketing firm specializing in product sampling, Pyxis developed an online vehicle to give away 1,000,000 free sample of hair care products. The site was designed to collect online information and compare the address information against the addresses already in the database. In addition, backend tools where designed allowing the client to check the success of the campaign and download the large files containing the data collected.

The technical architecture of the site also had to be designed to handle large quantities of traffic, the result of the aggressive marketing campaigns being orchestrated by The Sunflower Group. What kind of traffic exactly? 60,000 orders and over 100,000 user sessions on the top day!

Vinyl Corp. manufactures vinyl materials for residential and commercial construction projects. Their parent company, Unimast Inc. has been a Pyxis client for almost two years, and when they were unhappy with Vinyl Corp.'s initial web presence, they turned to us.

With a very limited amount of materials to work with, we created a design that capitalized on the shapes and structures of the Vinyl Corp. products and the construction industry in general. The result is a clean and efficient website that provides information about Vinyl Corp. to its audience.
